Augusta, ME -- At the Maine Commission for Community Service's November business meeting the Masons' Grand Master of Maine, Thomas Pulkkinen, presented MCCS with a generous donation in order to support the recognition of youth volunteers across Maine. This is not the first year that the Maine Masonic Charitable Foundation has supported the Young Maine Volunteer Roll of Honor and the associated celebratory events held every spring. Last year youth volunteers on the roll of honor received tickets to a Red Claws basketball game in Portland and in 2016 they attended a Portland Pirates hockey game.

The Young Maine Volunteer Roll of Honor is a non-competitive award given to any youth 18 and under who volunteered at least 50 hours in the previous calendar year. The volunteer activity can fall under a broad spectrum of projects, including taking on any leadership position in their community through youth group initiatives, student councils, independently established projects, or other social and collaborative endeavors. Since 1987 the awards program has sought to not only honor the talent contributed to the State’s many communities, but also inspire others to follow in the footsteps of those recognized.

Duke Albanese Performing Arts Center on May 6. To learn more about the awards process and how to submit nominations visit VolunteerMaine.org. Submissions are due March 15, 2018.
